1b: My Topic

The topic I chose to write is about roadracing motorcycle suspension geometry. I chose this topic because I have been racing for a couple of years now and I still have trouble adjusting my suspension on my race bike. I would look forward to doing more research on this topic because it would interesting and helpful to me in the future.

What I do know about motorcycle suspension adjustments is how to adjust ride height by stiffening or relaxing the spring tension. I played around by stiffening and relaxing the springs and doing a few laps on the track to see what felt best to me. I also know how tire style and brand, tire pressures and chain tension can play an effect on the suspension setup.

The parts of the suspension setup that I am uncomfortable with is the front and rear pre-load and rebound. These are a major part of the suspension setup but since I don't know how to properly use these settings when I do make adjustments they usually make the ride quality worse. I would like to do the research on how to properly adjust motorcycle suspension to achieve the effect that I'm looking for. Also come March I will be able to apply my research to real life and see what I have researched works.
